The Hyena Sanctuary of North America is an educational facility that resuces and provides a permenant home for members of the hyaenidae family.  
       
 

Our primary team is run by a very small group of dedicated individuals that all share a passion for the misunderstood hyena. The sanctuary was stemmed from the need to find a permanent home for the UC Berkeley Captive Hyena Research Colony to retire to and live out their days with grace. With no current sanctuary catering to hyenas, we set out on the path to create North America’s first dedicated facility. Any hyenas needing a home can take sanctuary here.


In May of 2013, we purchase a parcel of land in rural Central Texas. By September 2013 we filed for our 501(c)(3) status and secured suppliers to construct our facility.
